A scarce antique map of Buckinghamshire by cartographer and engraver John Gibson, circa 1759. Recognized as an important late eighteenth-century British cartographer, a contemporary of Bellin and a skilled engraver, he spent most of his life in prison because of several debts. However, he produced thousands of maps and his best-known work in 1758 was called the pocket atlas Atlas Minimus. A copper engraving. Mounted. Ready to frame.
