Jan Jansson's fine map of the Anglo-Saxon Heptarchy, based on the Blaeu and Speed maps.
There are arms of Scotland, Ireland and the Heptarchy, and the seven historical vignettes on each side, depicting the kings of each kingdom and the Anglo-Saxon history in contemporary Dutch settings.
There are compass lines radiating across the seas, which distinguishes the map from that of Blaeu, Jansson's closest rival.
The map was published in his 'Atlas Novus' circa 1646. Latin text verso.
