An antique, hand coloured lithograph, published in Italy, of the Battle of Diersheim in 1797. The battle (April 1797) saw a First French Republic army led by Moreau clash with the Austrian Army. Both sides suffered about 3,000 casualties, and finally the Austrians retreated. The combat was a waste of lives because Bonaparte had signed the Preliminaries of Leoben with Austria a few days earlier, calling for a truce.
