Jean Victor Moreau was a French general who helped Napoleon Bonaparte to power, but later became a rival and was banished to the United States. He returned to Europe to plot to defeat Napoleon, giving advice to the Swedish and Russian leaders, and was mortally wounded while talking to the Tsar on the 27th August 1813, prior to the Battle of Dresden. He died 5 days later.
