A hand coloured, antique steel engraving of Eastgate Street Row, in the city centre of Chester, England.
The city centre of Chester is characterised by a historic feature of the buildings known as “The Rows,” which are galleried and covered walkways accessed by stairs between ground floor frontages at various points to the main street. The galleried walkways effectively provide pedestrian access to an upper level of separate shops situated above those at street level. They exist to the present day.
