A hand coloured, antique steel engraving, drawn and engraved by H Bibby, showing 'The gallant affair of the the Hecla and Arrogant, cutting out a Russian barque from under the batteries of Eckness, May 20th 1854'. 'The Arrogant, anchoring off the batteries kept up a furious cannonade, while the Hecla ran in throwing shells on the enemy, took a barque in tow and steamed away with her'. Eckness (Ekenas) is in the Gulf of Finland in the Baltic, and this action was part of the Crimean War against Russia. Mounted. Unframed.
