An ornate, hand coloured map of Monmouthshire for Thomas Moule's publication 'The English Counties', circa 1848. The map is illustrated with images of Tintern Abbey, Chepstow Castle and the Town Hall, Monmouth. Thomas Moule (1784 – 1851) was an English antiquarian, expert on heraldry and a map maker. He is best known for his popular and highly decorative maps of counties of England - steel engraved, and first published separately between 1830 and 1832. The map has been laid on board to strengthen the damaged margin on the left hand side. Mounted. Ready to frame.
