An antique, monochrome steel engraving of the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, by C Cook, after the portrait by Tischbein, published circa 1860. Mozart was born in Salzburg in 1756. he was a child prodigy, already proficient on piano and violin, he started composing at the age of 5, and performed before European royalty. At 17 he was engaged as a musician at the Salzburg court, but grew restless and travelled in search of a better position. He chose to stay in Vienna, where he achieved fame, but little financial security. During his final years he composed many of his best known works. He died at the age of 35. Mounted. Unframed.
