An antique, hand coloured steel engraving of Pope Pius VII and Napoleon sketched by Scottish artist David Wilkie RA (1785 - 1841) and engraved by JC Armytage.
The print depicts the intense period of discussions held between the Emperor and Pius VII during the latter's house arrest at the Chateau de Fontainebleau, after which in 1813 the Pope agreed to sign a Concordat, known as the 'Concordat de Fontainebleau, 1813'.
