Thomas Attree was born at 8, Ship Street, Brighton, and followed his father into the family's solicitor business. By the time he had purchased Queens Park he had become one of the most influential and powerful solicitors in Brighton. He commissioned Sir Charles Barry to build him the grand villa seen here.
The Pepperbox just behind the house was in fact an ornate water tower. Unfortunately, over the years the house fell into disrepair, and was finally demolished in 1972. The Pepperbox still exists.
