An interesting social caricature, published March 12th 1797 by J Evans, 41 Long Lane, with original hand colours. Engraved on copper.
The picture show the tailor sitting on the floor surrounded by his creditors. The text below is as follows:
'Behold poor Snip the Taylor's fate
The none more blythe and gay of late
Now Butcher, Baker and old Butt
Milkmaid and Cobbler all do put
Thier scores and bills so justly due
Which makes the Taylor rave and stew
Mercy! my friends Oh! put them of
I'll cut my coat out to my cloth'
